Seminole Music & Gators Musicians from all over the country competed in July for prizes totaling more than $6,000.  The competition was proudly held at Gators Cafe and Saloon in Treasure Island, FL.  Seminole Music & Sound organized the contest with sponsorship from ESP Guitars, Ampeg Bass Amps, Mapex Drums, Sabian Cymbals, D'Addario Strings, EMG Pickups, Premier Drums and Evans Drum Heads.  The Kingpin Band hosted the activities, and Gators offered food and drink specials all night. All ages were welcome to come out and enjoy the contest.  The semi-finals for the competition were held on the following dates:     Monday, July 6th, 1998 Monday, July 13st, 1998 Monday, July 20th, 1998 Grand prizes were given away on the final evening of competition - Monday, July 27th, 1998.  Congratulations to our grand prize Bass War winner for 1998 Xavier Chisholm ! Bass Guitar War Prizes : 2nd Place  EMG P/J bass pickup set.  Active bass pickup system, valued at $200.  1st Place  Ampeg B3158 Bass Combo Amplifier.  100watts X 50watts biamped with 1-15" speaker and 1-8 " speaker, valued at $1000.  Grand Prize ESP B1 bass guitar with hardshell case and Seymour Duncan Basslines pickup system, valued at $1800.  Drum War Prizes :      2nd Place  Sabian 15" AAX extreme chinese cymbal, valued at $200.  1st Place  Mapex 5X12 deluxe maple snare drum, valued at $400.     Grand Prize Premier Liquid Bronze 5 peice fusion drum set 9X10,10X12, 12X14,16X22, 5 1/2 X 14, valued at $1400.     All contestants received prize bags with such things as: D'Addario Strings, Evans Drum Heads, hats, duffle bags, towels and t-shirts.
